The community of Entry Island, sponsored by the Entry Island Future Committee, held its very first edition of the Entry Island Homecoming – A Cultural Festival, during the week-end of July 15 – July 17 2011. There were a variety of fun activities during the three days for people of all ages. This event had attracted approximately 300 people from both the Magdalen Islands and from various maritime provinces. The festival had a very important economic, social and cultural impact for the community of Entry Island with local business citing a significant
increase in sales for this period. The event was also and an opportunity for the Future Committee and adhoc steering committee to create relationships with other communities and organizations Island-wide.
This festival was made possible with funding from Emploi-Québec, within the subvention salariale program, to hire a Cultural Development Agent who helped plan the event, with the support from CEDEC, Municipality des Iles-de-la-Madeleine, various sponsoring local business, and numerous hours of volunteer work from local community members.
