CEDEC Small Business Support Network
A dynamic process of entrepreneurial development has been steadily growing in the English-speaking community of Quebec. More specifically, since 2007, CEDEC has been actively building a Small Business Support Network (SBSN) in the Montéregie, Estrie, and the North Shore of Montreal to create better awareness of entrepreneurial support services within the English-speaking community.Through the SBSN, English-speaking business owners have been meeting to network, identify ways to further develop and improve their businesses, and become more aware of local resources and services. |

Social Development Plan of the Lower North Shore
The fishing communities along the coast of the Lower North Shore have been going through a process of transformation for more than a decade. Faced with the economic realities of declining fish stocks and a moratorium on Atlantic cod, in the spring of 2003 the local economy was further devastated by the collapse of the snow crab fishery. In 2001, organizations in the Lower North Shore region came together to discuss the social challenges being faced in the community. The intent of the social development plan is to ensure the economic and social development of the region through the involvement of individuals, their community and regional organizations. |

Bikes in the Bay
English-speaking communities across the Outaouais region in Quebec have been deeply affected by the closure of lumber mills in the area since 2005. Following the loss of numerous jobs, particularly among older workers, CEDEC is working with communities to diversify and strengthen their local economies. One community in the Outaouais, Campbell’s Bay, has rallied its citizens and resources to develop a tourism initiative in an effort to put this small town of 700 residents squarely on the tourism map.
