CEDEC held two days of interactive discussions around workforce development with a diverse group of stakeholders and partners across many sectors, including researchers, employers, educational institutions, community organizations, employment service providers and provincial and federal government.
These sessions were a follow-up from the October 2017 Workforce Development Discussion Day and resulted in further recommendations towards a better continuum of services and the identification of labour market information needs. The goal was to identify how institutions, employment service providers and employers can better collaborate.
Moving forward with valuable input, CEDEC is developing two important action plans:
- Connecting People to Possibilities Plan: will address gaps in the current Workforce Development Services Continuum for Quebec’s English speakers.
- Labour Market Information (LMI) Research Plan: will create more robust information about the English-speaking workforce in Quebec that is consistently available and presented in an accessible way.
The English-speaking workforce has a vital role to play in Quebec’s economic prosperity. These two action plans aim to support an innovative and growing Quebec economy by enabling Quebec’s English-speaking workforce to be successful in the labour market, through better access to services and information.
