Quebec Connects Generates $1.3M in Short-term Economic Impact

Under the mentorship, guidance and support of CEDEC, the Valcartier Military Family Resource Centre, Eastern Quebec Learning Centre, Ver-Mac, and Québec International agreed to lead and support a Collaborative Economic Development Venture to connect employers with jobs to fill with an untapped pool of available English-Speaking and bilingual talent in the Quebec City area.

Since 2021, the Venture has generated $1.3M in short-term economic impact by placing talent in 14 jobs in the Quebec City area. The direct financial impact of this Venture is $811K in salaries with an additional indirect and induced impact of six jobs which generated an additional $519K.

“English-speaking and bilingual job seekers in the Québec City region often miss out on employment opportunities, because employers – unaware of this local untapped resource – frequently recruit from outside the province when English language skills are an important job requirement. Our Venture prioritizes matching English and bilingual job seekers with employers who have jobs which require those skills.”
